FSU Line Dance

Line Dance is a Showcase of the Arts that began in 2014 with the main purpose of giving back to the FSU community. Line Dance has stood as a staple event amongst Greek life for nearly a decade. It represents the strength amongst our Greek chapters and preserves the unity and unwavering dedication that Greek life stands for.

This philanthropy is governed by four host fraternities amongst the Interfraternity council in the spring semester of every year. These governing chapters include Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Theta Chi, and Beta Theta Pi. An Executive Board is selected each Spring from members amongst these chapter to prepare and lead all the events.

The philanthropy involves Share-It night events with local Tallahassee restaurants as well as 3 larger programming events! This year we are hosting a Movie night in our very own baseball stadium, the Theta Chi Concert, as well as the Pike Barbecue. The philanthropy events are wrapped up by a Panhellenic-wide dance competition in which each of our 17 sorority chapters create and choreograph their own dance routines. This year we are excited to announce that the main event will be back on March 30th, 2022, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center!

Judges at the main event consist of local Tallahassee dance professionals. Sororities are judged based on technical evaluations through their dance, participation at all fundraising events, apparel sales, as well as the amount of money raised through their Crowdchange pages.

Sponsors

The Executive Board is tasked with finding sponsors consisting of local businesses and chains to put on all these events. This year’s sponsors include:

Diamond Level ($4,000)
Platinum Level ($2,500)
Gold Level ($1,000)
Silver Level ($500)
Bronze Level ($250)

Beneficiaries

To date, FSU Line Dance has become the largest Greek-run Philanthropy at our university. In 2021, we were able to raise over $130,000 for academic and student support programs! This year we are looking to set the record in raising over $150,000 for our three beneficiaries:

  1. Collegiate Veterans Association
  2. Unconquered Scholars
  3. FSU Student Union: (Line Dance will have our very own Conference room)
