Florida SUS Hazing Prevention Summit/ FSL Annual Drive-In

Rethinking Student and Organizational Wellness: Addressing the Root Causes for Change

JUNE 16 & JUNE 17, 2026, AT FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY

The State of Florida CSA/AVP SUS Hazing Prevention Summit brings together senior Student Affairs leaders from across the State University System to move beyond reactive, compliance-driven approaches to hazing and toward a deeper, systems-informed understanding of why hazing persists and the spectrum on which it is presented. Rather than treating hazing as an isolated behavior, this two-day experience centers on examining root causes embedded in institutional practices, organizational & communal culture, and leadership behaviors. Through collective learning, facilitated dialogue, and strategy-building, we will explore the evolving hazing prevention landscape, including legislation, national trends, risk factors, and data-informed strategies, while engaging in intentional reflection on their own campus contexts to identify contributing factors and develop targeted, sustainable solutions.

Grounded in the Organizational Change Framework, the summit will emphasize leadership identity, leadership capacity, and leadership efficacy as pivotal levers for lasting change. Participants will also collaborate across functions to assess current prevention efforts, identify systemic gaps, and co-create actionable, campus-specific implementation plans that address underlying conditions rather than just the symptoms. New this year, the integration of the State of Florida Fraternity & Sorority Life Annual Summer Drive-In expands the summit’s reach by assembling FSL professionals and institutional leaders beyond the SUS to examine how culture, community norms, leadership development, accountability, and wellness intersect with effective hazing prevention. Attendees will leave with strengthened partnerships, a clearer understanding of institutional responsibility, and a practical, root-cause–driven plan to create safer, healthier campus environments across the great state of Florida.
